Flinders University Health and Medical Research Building – Bedford Park, SA

O.P. Industries delivered mechanical services works for Flinders University’s Health and Medical Research Building (HMRB), a ten-storey landmark facility that redefines biomedical research infrastructure in South Australia. The building forms the first completed structure within the new Flinders Village innovation precinct and supports over 600 researchers, clinicians and support staff tackling critical health challenges in areas such as chronic disease, genomics and infectious disease research.

The project includes specialised Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) and Biosecurity Containment Level 2 (BC2) laboratories, flexible wet and dry research spaces, offices, seminar areas and collaborative support zones, all designed to foster interdisciplinary innovation and scientific excellence.

O.P. Industries was engaged to deliver complex mechanical and HVAC services throughout the building, ensuring critical laboratory environments, workspace comfort, and operational systems met exacting performance, safety and compliance standards. Works were closely coordinated with consultants and the head contractor to integrate services into the highly technical laboratory infrastructure, supporting both scientific research and academic collaboration.

Delivered in partnership with the project team, the successful mechanical services contribution has helped enable one of Australia’s most advanced medical research facilities, reinforcing O.P. Industries’ capability in delivering high-performance mechanical solutions for specialist tertiary and healthcare infrastructure.
